প্রসংগ – স্বাধীনতা ও মুক্তচিন্তা

স্বাধীনতা বলতে কি বুঝি আমরা। উইকিপিডিয়ার সংজ্ঞাই দেখা যাক। Freedom is often associated with liberty and autonomy in the sense of “giving oneself their own laws”, and with having rights and the civil liberties with which to exercise them without undue interference by the state. এখানে আরো বলা হয়েছে Freedom include freedom of assembly, freedom of association, freedom of choice, and freedom of speech. বেশ। ভাল কথা। কিন্তু আমরা কি দেখেছি? আমরা দেখেছি যে স্কুলে আমাদেরকে শেখানো হচ্ছে, স্বাধীনতা মানে স্বেচ্ছাচারিতা নয়। স্বাধীনতা মানে এই নয়, যা মুখে আসবে তাই বলা যাবে। মেনে নিলাম। স্বাধীনতা মানে স্বাধীনতা হলেও আমাদেরকে তা বুঝেশুনে ব্যবহার করতে হবে। তাই তো? তাছাড়া আমরা জানলাম যে freedom of speech স্বাধীনতার একটি অন্যতম অনুষঙ্গ। এই freedom of speech এর সাথে সম্পর্কিত একটি বিষয় হলো Freethought বা মুক্তচিন্তা। কারণ মুক্তচিন্তা ব্যতীত freedom of speech দিয়া আমরা কি করিব? দেখা যাক মুক্তচিন্তা সম্পর্কে উইকিপিডিয়া কি বলেছে। Freethought holds that beliefs should not be formed on the basis of authority, tradition, revelation, or dogma. আচ্ছা। আরো বলা হয়েছে In some contemporary thought in particular, free thought is strongly tied with rejection of traditional social or religious belief systems. আহা!! মুক্তচিন্তা মানে আপনাকে সামাজিক ঐতিহ্য আর ধর্মীয় বিশ্বাসের বিরুদ্ধে চিন্তা করতে হবে, কথা বলতে হবে। এখানে logic, reason, and empirical observation টানা যাবে না। কি মধুর বাণী। কি স্ববিরোধীতা!! এখন কথা হচ্ছে আমাদেরকে কারা এইসব শেখাচ্ছেন? যারা শেখাচ্ছেন তারা নিজেরাই কি এই স্ববিরোধীতা মেনে চলেন? সবচাইতে বড় প্রশ্ন হলো – তারা আসলে কারা??
